Galveston History Vignettes Back in the Day: Galveston in 1911

During the month of September 2011, Hotel Galvez featured the Galveston and Texas History Center’s PowerPoint presentation, Back in the Day: Galveston in 1911, as part of the Galvez’s centennial commemoration. Back in the Day shows key Galveston businesses, buildings, and highlights in 1911 through photographs, color postcards, and business advertisements from the Rosenberg Library’s archival collection.

The Galveston-Houston interurban streetcar postcard ca. 1911
The Galveston-Houston interurban streetcar began service December 5, 1911. It lasted until 1936, when it was replaced by buses.
