How To Create a Google Account and link it to Udemy

Creating a Google Account:

  1. In your web browser navigate to “Create a Google Account”. Complete the form as required. It requires your first and last name. You can choose to create a new Google user ID or use the recommended ID, then you will need to create a password.

Note: Google will notify you if the user ID you are entering has been used. In this case you will need to use another user ID.

  2. Click next. On the next page it will request a secondary email address and phone number. This is not required but having this information in your Google account helps recover your account if you forget your password. Google will ask your birthdate and your gender.
  3. The next page is titled “Privacy and Terms”. It explains how your information is used in Google and various legalities. YOU MUST AGREE TO THE PRIVACY POLICIES AND TERMS IN ORDER TO CREATE AN ACCOUNT.
  4. After clicking “Agree” you will be directed to your account home page. This is where you will find your account information and settings, along with access to the Google apps including Gmail.

Return to Udemy:

  1. On the Udemy homepage, after you have gained access using your library card number and PIN, click on the orange button that says “Sign In / Create a Udemy Account”. You will then be asked if you want to log in with Google or Microsoft. Click on “Sign in with Google”.
  2. After clicking this link you will arrive at a Google page showing your Google account. You must give Google permission to link your account with Udemy.

Note: GALE CENGAGE is shown in the window. This is the company that owns Udemy.

  3. After selecting your Google account, the next page will tell you the importance of protecting your Google account. You must click “Allow” to complete the process of linking your Google and Udemy accounts.
  4. You will return to Udemy to complete linking the accounts.
  5. You will then be required to agree to Gale’s Terms of Use and the Cengage Privacy Policy.
  6. Click the box next to “I agree to the terms of use” and then scroll to your birth year.
