Library Cards and More

Library Cards

Getting a Rosenberg Library Card is easy and free!

If you are a resident of Texas, visit Circulation at the 1st floor circulation desk with an up-to-date state-issued ID* and fill out the application. For applicants who own property on Galveston Island but live outside of Texas, please provide both an up-to-date state-issued ID and proof of Galveston ownership/residency (utility bill, lease, etc.) If you want to save time, visit the Library Catalog, and click “Sign Up.” Visit Circulation afterwards to finish the process.

Customers can receive one free replacement card per year. Additional replacement cards are $1.00. Every three years, library cards need to be renewed, and a replacement card can also be issued at that time at no cost to the customer.

Digital Cards

Digital cards are best for those who only want access to digital content from the Rosenberg Library, which includes databases, movies, music, and more. Visit the Library Catalog, and click “Sign Up” then upload a copy of your up-to-date state-issued ID* in the “Attach File” location of the form. A guardian’s signature is required if the applicant is below the age of 18. Please note, this card is only for digital content, and will not allow you to check out physical items.

Digital cards can be changed to a regular/full member card if you have a state-issued ID and proof of Texas residency from the past sixty (60) days.

All questions about library cards can be answered by Circulation at 409.763.8854 Ext. 123.

*If not up-to-date, please provide utility bill, lease or other similar documentation that shows your current address.

If someone else has the item I want, how can I be notified when it’s available?

To be notified when an item is becomes available, go into the library catalog, find the item, and select “Place Hold.” When the item is returned, we will hold the item for you and notify you, either with an email, text message, or phone call. You will have three (3) days to pick up the item once notified.

I didn’t finish using my items. Can I renew them?

Absolutely! If you need more time with an item, you can renew your check out time either by visiting us in person at the Library, through your online account, or calling us at 409.763.8854 Ext. 123 during regular library hours. What do I do if I lost my items?

We are sorry to hear your items were lost, it happens! If the item is lost for longer than ninety (90) days, there may be a replacement cost as well as a $5 processing fee. However, if you find the items and return them to the library, the cost is waived with no consequences!

Please note: lost/overdue items must be returned inside the Rosenberg Library. Do not return lost/overdue items to the Intelligent Book Return/Drop Boxes (Moody Methodist Church/north side of Rosenberg Library).

The Rosenberg Library doesn’t have the item I want. How can I request it?

You can use the InterLibrary Loan program! A Rosenberg librarian will search for your requested item at other libraries across the nation.
