Library Cards
Getting a Rosenberg Library Card is easy and free!
If you are a resident of Texas, visit Circulation at the 1st floor circulation desk with an up-to-date state-issued ID* and fill out the application. For applicants who own property on Galveston Island but live outside of Texas, please provide both an up-to-date state-issued ID and proof of Galveston ownership/residency (utility bill, lease, etc.) If you want to save time, fill out the electronic application then see Circulation to finish the process.
Temporary cards are also available for people who have no proof of residency, are living on the island temporarily, or for children under the age of eighteen (18) with no guardian to cosign a permanent card. This card gives short term access to both physical and digital items at the Rosenberg Library. To get one, either visit Circulation on the 1st floor, or fill out the electronic application, select “physical card,” then visit Circulation to finish the process.
Customers can receive one free replacement card per year. Additional replacement cards are $1.00. Every three years, library cards need to be renewed, and a replacement card can also be issued at that time at no cost to the customer.
*If not up-to-date, please provide utility bill, lease or other similar documentation that shows your current address.
Digital Cards
Digital cards are best for those who only want access to digital content from the Rosenberg Library, which includes databases, movies, music, and more. To sign up, fill out the electronic application, select “digital card.” A guardian’s signature is required if the applicant is below the age of 18. Please note, this card is only for digital content, and will not allow you to check out physical items.
Digital cards can be changed to a regular/permanent card if you have a state-issued ID and proof of Texas residency from the past sixty (60) days.
