The Isle Connect Program is ending soon!

What does that mean?

  1. On November 8, the hot spot’s free internet services will end. Hot spots will also no longer have Isle Connect’s child-friendly internet filtering service.
  2. On January 1, the Chromebook will revert to factory settings. This means it will function almost as if you just received it out of the box from the store. More features of the computer will be open to you.

What do I do next?

Chromebooks

After January 1, you can:

  • Keep the Chromebook as long as you need it, or
  • Return the Chromebook to Rosenberg Library’s first floor circulation desk.

Hotspots

After November 8, you can:

  • Return the hot spot to Rosenberg Library’s first floor circulation desk, or
  • Keep the hotspot and put new internet service on it through T-Mobile.

Please note: T-Mobile may or may not have the child-friendly internet filtering services. Please practice internet safety and discernment.*

What if I still need internet services?

If you decide to turn your hot spot in, there are other free or low cost options that may be available to you. Galveston-area residents may qualify for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) offered by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Available internet plans from Xfinity and AT&T providers. Check with the vendor for current information.

T-Mobile is also a participating service provider. Contact these providers to learn if and how you qualify.

You can also visit the FCC website to see if you qualify for a discounted internet rate.

*To comply with Isle Connect grant requirements, the Rosenberg Library was required to add child friendly internet filtering services to all Isle connect hot spots. This only lasts while hot spots are funded through Isle Connect, and will automatically be removed on November 8.
